Digitized from a shellac record, at 78 revolutions per minute. Four stylii were used to transfer this record. They are 3.8 mil truncated conical, 2.3 mil truncated conical, 2.8 mil truncated conical, 3.3 mil truncated conical. These were recorded flat and then also equalized with AES.

The preferred version suggested by an audio engineer at George Blood, L.P. is the equalized version recorded with the 3.8 mil truncated conical stylus, and has been copied to have the more friendly filename.

Subject: Ragtime Spills Into Hobson Street

Hobson Street Blues, one of the biggest hits of Bob Zurke's short career, is still a part of '30s Jazz repertoire. Recognized by how difficult it is to play, it is a challenge for the performer and a quick pace for the audience to follow. Known in the moment, for his skill at the piano and having just stepped away from Bob Crosby's band to form his own Delta Rhythm Band, he was a raising star when he recorded this record on July 18th, 1939. In fact, it seems all of his released studio recordings, since leaving Bob Crosby's group, were made between July, 1939 and May the following year. This record might be the first of those recording sessions, at Victor records. The label calls Bob Zurke "The Ole Tom-Cat of the Keys", which is a title of a hit song he released the same year.
